Just yesterday I went into this Jean Coutu looking for foundation. One of the makeup counter assistance asked me if I needed any help and I explained to her my problem with acne and why I was buying foundation to cover it up. For years people have always commented about my acne and I have done everything possible to cover it up and correct it. After spending lots of money on products that did nothing I gave up.The ladies at the counter educated me about the causes of my acne and they helped me find a solution. The seem to really care and understand my frustration with my skin problems. The gave me some extra products as a gift to help me. I have never been so thankful for help. Thanks so much! I will always love Jean Coutu and these lovely workers at the location!

Nice little store with most essentials. The main pharmacist is incredibly rude and got my medication wrong more than once, then blamed me for it.

I sort of agree with the poster below you felt exhausted after leaving but I think it is partly the language barrier and the strange provincial insurance system which has a deductible based on the monthly not accumulated annual cost of the prescription and not based on your 150 line on tax return and then going on about budget as if it were same as income; at least this time someone took the time to explain it to me; last time I was told it was too complicated and I didn’t need to know anything more than what was on the receipt. Everything I said felt like it was being contradicted, attacked or misunderstood and I had to over-explain personal situations like not having a doctor and having to go to a walk in clinic which I felt was an invasion of my privacy considering we were having a public discussion almost under the privacy act sign. Then the cash register in the back wasn’t working so I had to go to the front. At the beginning he asked me if it was weekly or monthly and he proceeded to look through a bunch of bags hanging on the wall before he looked in a bunch of containers and it felt chaotic partly due to the language barrier but I did get the right prescription. I was trying to find out if it would be cheaper and faster if I bought three months at a time like in BC because you save on the $9 dispensing fee for two months. It wasn’t pleasant or easy to find anything out cause when you asked about one thing he would talk about something else or make a comment about something obvious like it depends on your budget so you never felt like you were on the same page. The experience was exhausting and not pleasant like shopping for regular stuff at this store. Sometimes shopping for regular stuff is a slow process since one clerk doesn’t acknowledge that you are waiting and you feel like you are being ignored for around five minutes before she acts like she is lowering herself to serve you. The Coutu on Monkland is bigger, much faster and usually busier. If you just moved from a province like BC where pharmacare is income based you are in for a huge shock which of course is not the drugstore’s fault. Got photo done there and they were nice enough to do them over again but then they got the date stamp wrong he had to wipe it off and left a smudge on the back while he was talking to someone at the desk. Things can get really cramped in this store and add the condescending way they talk to you at times, feels ghetto.

Tiny and clean pharmacy with decent selection of bath products, snacks and other knick-knacks. Helpful and courteous staff as a bonus.
